In an effort to help protect you from potential issues QR codes may cause now and in the future, we are taking a close look at them.  We want to help you avoid trouble that can come from use of copyrighted and trademarked material that would qualify as infringement.  We also do not want you to be subjected to negative consequences that can come from publishing content that would violate someone’s ownership rights, privacy rights or cause someone embarrassment.   

 

With those things in mind, our position on QR codes used on pages includes:

·         QR codes will be allowable to print if the code links to a SCHOOL-CONTROLLED website (.edu or school controlled and monitored YouTube, Google Drive, social media page, etc)

·         QR codes that do not link to a school controlled website must be removed and cannot print.

 

We have noted you are using QR codes on page(s):

Please verify that the code links to content controlled and monitored by the school and if not, it must be removed.

 

We appreciate your time spent reading through this.  We also hope this will be a good opportunity to educate staff members who were born and raised in an “anything goes” internet environment that respect for content ownership and responsible use of tools like QR codes are very important.
